PAINSWICK tennis ace Alicia Barnett has spoken out about her Wimbledon experience after narrowly losing at the quarter-finals stage.
The former Stroud High School student and mixed doubles playing partner Marcus Willis were beaten 6-3 7-5 by Mexican duo Giuliana Olmos and Santiago Gonzalez.
After missing out on a semi-finals appearance, Alicia said: "Walking onto court at Wimbledon will never get old.
"Playing with Marcus Willis was a lot of fun.
"You just can't write this.
"From staying at mine for a futures last year to breaking the top 100 this summer.
"I was proud to put my name down with you but never expected us to end up getting in, playing on court 2, court 1... and winning."
In the round of 16 match Barnett and Willis beat the US pair of Katie Volynets and Rajeev Ram in three sets.
Losing the first set 6-2, the British pair played some subline tennis in the second which they would win 6-3.
Playing in front of an energetic home crowd on court two the match was decided by a best to 10 third set tie-break.
Barnett's stunning ace when the score was 7-7 in the crucial tie-break was one of the standout highlights.
Saving match point, Barnett and Willis would end up winning the final tie-break 11- 9
