AN EVENT celebrating the skills, talent and caring connections of the unique Stroud communities is coming to Stroud.

The Stroud Show 2024 takes place on July 13 and 14 from 11.30am -6pm.

After last years severe storms forced the cancellation of the Stroud Show for public safety reasons, Stroud Show is back bigger and better this year.

The theme is “Biscuits”, in memory of disability campaigner Molly Pegler, who sadly died in 2022.

Mum Rachel Pegler wrote ‘The Biscuits’ books for Molly, and they will all be in the Children’s tent.

Opening the Show at noon will be new Stroud MP Simon Opher and the Stroud Town Council Mayor

The 154th Stroud Show is an annual celebration of the skills, talents, and caring connections of our unique Stroud Communities.

There will be all the well-loved traditions: steam engines, tractors, vintage cars, Shire horses, Punch and Judy, funfair, Bubble entertainers, Art and stories tent for the kids; youth bands and entertainment, horticulture and craft competitions for all, never forgetting the great food and drink; and some new and quirky attractions besides.

There is the return of the international brickthrowing contest (rolling pins for the women, and wellies for the kids) for “The Golden Brick” (and a cash prize).

It’s a grudge year – the title was lost to Australia last year.

There’s also the epic battle of the titans, Tug of war between Stroud Rugby, Cainscross Rugby and the current cup holders the Old Crown Ebley.

New this year will be Blacksmith Mike Gracia, Gloucestershire Weavers and spinners and other craft workshops and demonstrations to enjoy. Helping students develop their skills, Year ten Photography will be out and about, so watch out for the gallery exhibition in the autumn.

There is also loads of music, with bands competing for a slot at Chalfest, Miserden Morris and modern dance, Cheerleaders, Simbora and samba drummers .

This year there is a finale of a star guest band Lonely Road, while Stroud Brewery and many food stalls will be with you all the way to the end at 6pm.
