A FORMER professional footballer cut the ribbon at the opening of two show homes in Stonehouse in June.

Yan Klukowski, who played for Forest Green Rovers and is now head of the club’s academy, attended the opening of a four-bedroom and three-bedroom property at Bovis Homes’ Great Oldbury location.

The football-themed event on Saturday, June 15 featured a demonstration by a freestyle footballer and Prosecco, pancakes and pizza.

A free prize draw also took place to win a VIP dining hospitality package for four at Forest Green Rovers.

The four-bedroom show home is in Bovis Homes’ Orchard style and includes a kitchen, family and dining space with bifold doors leading out to the garden, plus a separate living room, a study and a utility room.

The three-bedroom show home, meanwhile, is in the Cypress design and includes a kitchen-dining room with a utility room and a living room downstairs.

Bovis Homes is providing a total of 216 new homes at the site, with 151 three and four-bedroom houses for private sale.

There will also be homes available for shared ownership, affordable rent and private rent.

The housebuilder is part of Vistry Group, which also includes Linden Homes and Countryside Homes.

The Bovis Homes properties represent the second phase of development by Vistry at Great Oldbury, where Linden Homes is constructing 178 new homes in phase one.

All of the houses at Bovis Homes’ Great Oldbury location will be built to new energy efficiency standards and will have solar photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging points.

Sports pitches and a pavilion can also be found on the edge of the development.

Hayley Ody, regional sales and marketing director for Bovis Homes, said: “The site team and subcontractors are working very hard and are doing a fantastic job at Great Oldbury, where we are making excellent progress.

“The build programme saw us open the doors to two show homes, with the first residents set to move into their completed properties shortly after.

She added: “It is exciting to be a part of a wider project to create a brand new community at Great Oldbury.

“The overall development is delivering a primary school, which has already opened, a community hall, employment land, sports facilities and public open spaces.”

There are currently three and four-bedroom properties for sale at Great Oldbury including shared ownership with prices from £167,500 for a 50 per cent share.
