THE GATES of Sapperton C of E Primary School were thrown open to welcome families to their annual Summer Fete.

Organised by The Friends of Sapperton PTA, the school welcomed several hundred people into a packed playground to enjoy all the stalls in the sunshine on Saturday, June 8.

This year marked the launch of years 5 and 6 Young Business Initiative, where teams of classmates set up and ran their own small enterprise, in a bid to become budding entrepreneurs.

They researched, marketed and created products to sell on the big day, helping to raise hundreds of pounds for the school. Stalls included fresh lemonade and a silent auction.

Deputy headteacher Mrs Crampton explained just how much the children had learned through this process.

She said: "The children have shown exceptional skills in teamwork, marketing and negotiation.

The school would like to thank everyone who came and supported the event, including Gloucestershire Fire Service who turned up with a fire engine from Stroud to teach the children all about being firefighters
