A POPULAR event in Stroud is making its return this week.

The town centre ‘Seatery’ is making its return to Cornhill Market Place, turning the Historic Market Square into a vibrant community gathering space.

Beginning this Friday, June 7, from 11am until 2pm, residents and visitors can drop in and enjoy live music performances, games, toys, and cosy seating areas with cushions.

The Seatery first began during the pandemic as a place for musicians to practice and share their talents.

It quickly grew into a weekly summertime tradition.

This year, Stroud Town Council surveyed residents on how they would like to see the space evolve, and the clear message was a desire for more family-friendly fun alongside the free live music.

Laura Beattie, community development officer, said: "We're so excited to bring The Seatery back this year.

"Our hope is that it becomes a great venue for people of all ages to gather for free to play, eat and experience the incredible musical talents we have right here in Stroud."

The musical line up this Friday includes Lyn Briggs performing songs from her album My Promise, the folk instrumentals of Fleabane, and the versatile stylings of local musician Malcolm Eva, who will mix English folk, European folk, classical arias, original tunes and 60s pop hits.

Tables and chairs will be available to encourage residents to gather and share their lunch in town with The Seatery offering something for all ages.
