THE CENTRE of Stroud is looking bright and beautiful after the installation of 180 hanging baskets and planters around the town.
Stroud Town is looking bright and beautiful thanks to the installation of 180 hanging baskets and planters around town.
The vibrant displays - undertaken by Stroud Town Council's Green Spaces Team - are filled with petunias, begonias, salvias, geraniums, and creeping jenny that will keep their colourful blooms until October.
Local businesses like Fireside Bookshop have been praising the efforts on social media.
They said: "They've done a fantastic job, they've excelled themselves this year."
At the end of the season, the plants will be composted and recycled into the beds and borders throughout Stroud.
The Green Spaces Team say they have been receiving lots of positive feedback during the installation process.
Biodiversity Officer Mat Allen said: "A lovely Syrian gentleman was taking photos and sending the pictures to his family because he liked them so much.
"Installing the flowers is one of the best parts of our job."
Horticulture Ranger Sam Moppett explained that thanks to their rainwater butts, they were able to water the plants with collected rainwater instead of mains water.
He added: "The supplier is a family business going back generations.
"We hope the public enjoys the town looking so colourful."
