HUNDREDS gathered in soaring temperatures to celebrate an eccentric ancient spring festival near Stroud.
Saturday's Randwick Wap dates back to medieval times and was revived the 1970s by the late Rev Nial Morrison with a host of titles including wap mayor, wap queen, mop man and sword bearer plus flag and flowers bearers.
This year's title bearers were mayor Brian Cratchley, wap queen Millie Atkins, mop man Rachael Lythgoe, flag bearer Yana Mayer, sword bearer Lajos Mayer and high sheriff Nick Lythgoe.
