FOLLOWING their recent temporary closure, the toilets in Bedford Street have now reopened.

This block, which is owned by Stroud District Council, is cleaned twice daily and was also deep cleaned before this reopening.

The toilets were closed as a precautionary measure after high levels of bacteria were found during routine testing.

However, a full laboratory analysis confirmed it wasn’t related to legionella, and posed no risk to public health.

The toilets have since reopened, with SDC inviting the British Toilet Association to visit them and give their feedback.

An SDC spokesperson said: "Standards of public toilets are very important which is why we have invited the British Toilet Association to visit and provide feedback so we can improve them further.

“We are awaiting a report from the independent experts, the British Toilet Association.

"We will consider all options once we have received this report.”
