POLICE have issued an urgent warning after a man was robbed and attacked during a ‘’distraction'' scam in Nailsworth. 

The man was assaulted by two women near Morrisons yesterday, Saturday, April 13. 

Officers believe the pair approached the man under the “false pretence” of collecting money for a charity. 

According to a police community alert, the women stole his watch and were last seen heading towards Minchinhampton Common. 

The police alert - issued by Gloucestershire Police - reads: “We are aware of a distraction scam/ robbery circulating in your area. 

“On Saturday near Morrisons Supermarket and George Veterinary Clinic in Nailsworth, a person was accosted by two women with the false pretence of collecting money for a charity. 

“They physically attacked the person managing to take his watch. 

“The description of the women are late 20's, eastern European accent, height 5'6'', wearing white tops, possibly blue leggings, stocky build and both were wearing face masks.

“The women were last seen going towards Minchinhampton Common.   

 “Please help us raise awareness of this scam by informing your elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours.”
