DEBBIE HICKS has announced that she is standing for the Swindon North seat. 

The anti-lockdown activist who is well-known in the Stroud area has announced that she is running as an independent candidate for the Swindon North constituency at the next general election. 

She said: "I am excited to announce that I am running as the truly independent candidate for Swindon North at the 2024 general election."

Some of her aims include 'saving free speech', 'stopping net zero targets' and 'saving cash'. 

Ms Hicks says her campaign will 'be run on small donations from the public via a small crowdfund to cover costs and we will not accept corporate or large donations from individuals or interests.'

In her announcement, she also quoted Einstein, who said: "Insanity is to keep doing the same things and expecting different results.

She added: "If you want something different, you need to vote for someone different."

Ms Hicks confronted two NHS workers while filming inside a hospital was convicted in 2022 of a public order offence and ordered to pay almost £1000 in fines, costs and surcharges.

Debbie Hicks who at the time was based in Stratford Road, Stroud, had denied using threatening words or behaviour towards the two women staff at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on December 28 2020.
