NATIONAL Trust has announced an exciting partnership which will allow more people to enjoy Woodchester Park's beautiful landscape.
A brand-new all-terrain mobility scooter is now available to hire at Tinkley Gate so that older and less mobile visitors can access all the great views the tranquil wooded valley has to offer.
Visitors can take the scooter out for a spin for two and a half hours around a short route this spring.
Further pathway and infrastructure improvements which will connect Tinkley Gate with the rest of Woodchester Park have also been planned.
Kim Burrell, site manager at Woodchester Park, said: “Making this vehicle available at our Tinkley Gate site has been a fantastic team effort, and we’re delighted to partner with the Countryside Mobility Scheme so all users of mobility vehicles can access our beautiful countryside landscapes.
"An all-terrain mobility vehicle on site for anyone to book is a huge step forward in realising our vision for the Tinkley Gate site to make nature open to all.
"Visitors can accompany family and friends around the site, enjoying access to benches and picnic areas and making use of our excellent café facilities.”
Neil Warren, project manager at Countryside Mobility, said: “The Tramper can make such a difference at a location like Woodchester Park.
"It tackles footpaths and tracks with ease and most importantly it is a safe and easy way for people who may never have used a mobility scooter before to get into nature, enabling friends and family to explore this beautiful location together.
"We’re delighted to add it to our hire network of nearly 60 beauty spots, including five others in Gloucestershire.”
After a short induction which takes around 10 minutes, users will be able to hire the vehicle for a 2.5-hour slot, allowing them to fully enjoy the landscape and everything the café has to offer.
There is one morning and one afternoon slot each day.
One-off usage is £3 and an annual membership to the Countryside Mobility Scheme is £15, which allows users to hire from other sites across the Cotswolds region.
