DOZENS of worshippers marched through the town centre this morning - Good Friday - to officially mark the start of Easter.
A large group congregated outside The Door charity shop at the top of the high street to start the Walk of Witness procession, today, Friday, March 29.
The annual event, organised by Churches Together in Stroud, began with readings and hymns before the march took off around town.
The procession marched down Stroud High Street and King Street, led by two worshippers carrying a wooden cross.
The group also briefly stopped outside Five Valleys Medical Practice before marking their way to the Sub Rooms.
Hymns and songs included The Lord’s My Shepherd, From Heaven You Came (the Servant King), Steal Away, Were You there? Father We Adore You, Amazing Grace and When I Survey.
There were other instruments accompanying the singing, including a drum, saxophone, trombone, and tambourine.
Three officers from Stroud Police also marshalled the event.
The Walk of Witness is an annual Good Friday tradition where Christians of different denominations imitate the journey that Jesus Christ took carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem.
Church doors will be open across Stroud this Sunday for further Easter services.
