AN EX-racing driver from Stroud is heading full throttle into the video streaming big time.
Nick Ponting makes his presenting debut on Prime Video this Friday when he features in motoring show Lovecars: On The Road as a co-presenter alongside ex-Formula One racing driver Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman.
The show will feature guests including Top Gear’s former Stig, Ben Collins, and Italian racer Vicky Piria.
The TV show - which is now in its second series - will showcase 50 different cars in nine countries including Switzerland, USA, Italy, Sweden, Spain.
Nick, who lives with his wife and young son in King’s Stanley, is known for holding the UK electric land speed record which he broke in the Ecotricity Nemesis in September 2012.
He began racing aged nine in karting before progressing into professional motorsport across Europe.
Nick, who is director of Montpellier Legal in Cheltenham, says the show will also even feature Stroud.
“Joining Paul and Tiff on series two of On The Road was a huge privilege,” he said.
“We visited the most amazing countries in some amazing cars and had an absolute blast.
“Despite travelling to the USA, Italy, Sweden, Spain and many more, I couldn’t miss out my hometown, so Stroud also features in this series!”
Throughout the series, viewers will get behind the wheel and be taken to scenic roads, and circuits for real races, head-to-head shootouts, and reviews.
Cars featured in the show include a priceless endurance racing Porsche, a six-wheeled monster truck, as well as glittering supercars like the Lamborghini Huracan STO.
Also included are real-life tests of EVs including the Genesis GV60 and Renault Megane E-Tech.
Lovecars founder and co-host Paul Woodman said: “The show is about putting viewers in the driving seat of as many different cars as we can, in some of the greatest driving destinations.
“There’s currently nowhere else on TV that can transport you from sub-zero Scandinavia to a summer’s afternoon in Tuscany with a V8 Maserati soundtrack or from a fast blast on Britain’s B-roads to cruising in a Bugatti Chiron on an American highway.”
The first season is currently available on ITVX.
Meanwhile, the first and second seasons will be available on Prime Video from Friday, February 16.
