REHEARSALS are in full flow as members of Wotton-under-Edge Dramatic Society Dramatic Society are set to perform a glorious show next month.
The society were not able to celebrate their 90th anniversary in 2022 due to Covid.
They are now putting on a large scale musical to celebrate 90 years of performing at Wotton town hall, 40 years after they last staged Oliver!
Fifteen years since their last musical as a society, this production has brought together a mix of old and new members making up the cast .
This includes Karen Dover who is the only cast member of this current production that was in their production 40 years ago.
A mother and child duo will play Nancy and Oliver (Clair Hawes and Violet Oxley).
Luke Yarker and Violet Oxley will share the role of the title character, OLIVER!
After the auditions, children have been cast from local schools including Hillesley, the British School and the Blue Coat.
There will be two teams of children on alternative nights.
Director Anthony Young said: "It has been a great pleasure to bring this perennial favourite of a show that's been performed since 1960, where many an actor have cut their theatrical teeth in many productions."
Rehearsals are being held at Wotton Baptist Church.
This version of the musical was produced by Cameron Mackintosh in 2008 starring BBC's I'd Do Anything winner Jodie Prenger.
The production also starred Rowan Atkinson as Fagin.
Production dates are during the children's Easter holidays from Saturday, March 30 to Saturday, April 6.
