A FAMOUS BBC presenter plus a well-known Doctor Who character have wowed Stroud crowds this weekend.

On Friday night, BBC foreign correspondent and Mastermind presenter Clive Myrie spoke to a packed crowd at the Sub Rooms as the Stroud Book Festival began.

Myrie, who has recently released his memoir Everything is Everything, only came back to the country on Thursday afternoon, after reporting in the Israel-Gaza conflict.

He spoke about his upbringing, his parents - who are part of the Windrush generation -  how he was inspired by presenter Alan Whicker, how he got into foreign reporting and much more.

During the hour-long talk, he captivated the audience with his humour, honesty and some of the hard-hitting experiences he has had to face as a foreign correspondent.

On Saturday morning, Doctor Who fans were delighted as Mike Tucker, who was a visual effects assistant on the show, plus Doctor Who author Steve Cole, spoke along with a very special guest - K-9.

Cole and Tucker spoke about how the show has played an important part of their lives, both personally and professionally - and still does.

Cole's latest book is Doctor Who: Ten Days of Christmas - a tales about the Tenth Doctor, while Tucker, along with Cole, has recently released The Evil of the Daleks, along with Frazer Hines.

Speaking ahead of this month's 60th anniversary specials, audience members were treated to an array of interesting and funny anecdotes across both space and time.

Stroud Book Festival continues with more events over the next few days.
