COMMUNITIES across the Stroud area will remember those who have given their lives for their country this week on Armistice Day, Saturday, and on Remembrance Sunday.
Here is a round-up of some of the events taking place.
Minchinhampton
There will be a remembrance service at 10.50am on Sunday, November 12 at the memorial in Market Square.
Nailsworth
There will be two events in Nailsworth.
On Saturday, November 11, there will be a service before a two minutes' silence and wreath laying.
Residents can meet at 10.40am for the small service, before a two minutes silence and wreath laying at the clock tower at the A46/Spring Hill/George Street roundabout.
On Sunday, November 12 residents can meet at 10.30am at the bus station in Old Market.
There will be a procession to St George's Church for a remembrance service, before wreaths are laid at the war memorial.
Stroud
Residents can pay tribute to the fallen at a Sunday Remembrance service at the St Laurence Church from 9.30am, followed by a 10.45am ceremony in Park Gardens.
A care home in Stroud is also inviting local veterans to a special lunch in honour of Remembrance Day.
On Friday, November 10, Scarlet House in Westward Road is inviting those who have served in the Armed Forces to a special lunch to say thank you for their service and to pay tribute to those who were lost.
This takes place between 12pm and 2pm.
Stonehouse
There will be two events in Stonehouse on the Memorial Green.
On Saturday, November 11 there will be a short service of commemoration at 10.45am which will include reading the roll-call of names on the memorial, with a two-minute silence at 11am.
On Sunday, November 12, there will be a parade and service.
A parade will go from Regent Street to the Memorial Green starting at 11.45am with the service on the Green will beginning at 12 midday.
There will be a minute's silence and laying of wreaths at the memorial.
Painswick
On Saturday, November 11 there will be a service at Painswick War Memorial starting at 10.45am.
