SEVERAL flood alerts have been issued for parts of the area due to the arrival of Storm Ciaran.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the South Cerney area as well as Malmesbury.
Warnings have been issued for rivers on the Upper River Thames above Cricklade, the River Churn, the River Thames from Calcutt to Lechlade and the Upper Bristol Avon area including Malmesbury.
The update, which was issued at 7.30am this morning, reads: "Flooding is possible in this area.
“Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.”
Meanwhile, there is currently a yellow weather warning in place for South West England which has been issued by the Met Office.
Strong and potentially disruptive winds associated with Storm Ciarán are expected until late afternoon, along with heavy rain.
Gloucestershire Highways have also urged all drivers to drive with ‘care and attention’.
A statement reads: “There may be increased instances of surface water around this morning & areas of flooding due to the rainfall overnight.
“Please take due care and attention & avoid driving through flooded areas.
“Our crews are currently out working on reported issues.”
