A COMPANY which manufactures medical and scientific research products is moving to a new multi-million-pound location in Stonehouse.
Greiner Bio-One - which has nearly 3,000 employees worldwide - is relocating a short distance to a new multi-million-pound office and warehouse facility.
Having operated from the Stroudwater Business Park in Brunel Way since 1996, it is moving to a new site on the nearby Stroudwater 13 Business Park, owned by developer Robert Hitchins.
Construction of the 53,500 sq ft development began in January and is now ready for fitting-out.
The new facility will double the size of its current warehouse space, allowing for future growth of the business, say managers.
The company specialises in the development, production and distribution of high-quality laboratory and clinical products and works with hospitals, laboratories, universities, research institutes and the diagnostic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Managing director Shabir Ahmed said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the keys to our new UK facility.
"It means that we can start the next phase of delivering a site that will accommodate future growth and development of Greiner Bio-One in the UK and enable us to serve the needs of our varied customers for many years to come.”
Michael Plimmer, senior development manager at Robert Hitchins, was pleased to hand over the new unit, which is on a six-acre employment site close to J13 of the M5 and just off the A419.
“It is some time since a new industrial unit of size has been brought forward by a developer in Stonehouse," he said.
"It has been great to have partnered with Greiner Bio-One at a very early stage to help deliver a building that truly meets their needs for now and the future.
“We’re glad to have been able to provide them with the platform to grow their business in the UK and to complement their operations in Europe and the rest of the world.”
