THE FUTURE is uncertain for a Stroud town centre business.
The Georgian Tea Rooms, which is currently temporarily closed, is based in Rowcroft, having opened in 2018.
Currently closed due to health reasons, a spokesperson for the business said they would 'hopefully know in the coming weeks on what basis they can open again'.
A spokesperson said: "We have so many wonderful loyal customers, many of which have become our friends.
"It would be heartbreaking to have to close permanently.
"We think our future will be with pre booked functions and supper clubs in the near future to enable us to train a new cook/baker.
"Our clientele from 2018 had been mostly tourists, and post Covid these numbers have not recovered.
"This means that, although our local customers have increased, we still need to be working owners to survive.
"Our future remains uncertain but we would love to be able to offer murder mystery evenings again in conjunction with pre booked supper clubs.
"We envisage afternoon teas will also need to be pre-booked.
"Hopefully we will know in the next few weeks when and on what basis we can open again."
