I am a Whiteshill resident and I would like a right of reply to the last article you published concerning Katie Hopkins' thanks to her fans. I, and most of the people I know locally, are horrified and highly concerned this event took place here.
She is cloaking hate speech as humour, which contributes to normalising anti-inclusive views.
This event has brought shame on our village, and so many of us are deeply sad she was welcomed here by the local pub (and by just a few people - the claims there were 100 people there are clearly nonsense).
You cannot justify Hopkins views and behaviour as 'free speech'. Her comedy is malicious.
I hope the landlord of the Star Inn apologises to everyone for his huge mistake.
