KATIE Hopkins has thanked fans who attended her comedy show which was held in a pub in Stroud last night.
According to the controversial commentator, more than 100 people attended her Speakeasy show at the Star Inn at Whiteshill.
Speaking this morning Ms Hopkins said: "I want to thank the great people of Stroud for hosting my Speakeasy.
"We were a fully SOLD OUT event with over 100 people coming together to enjoy an evening of talk and laughter.
"The amazing pub landlord of the Star Inn stepped into the breach with his pub as a venue and we want to thank him and his regulars for being the real stars of this show.
"I would also like to thank Stroud police for their support. It was so uplifting for the local community to see a police force helping to protect people's right to speak freely and to be heard.
"Want to come? Buy a ticket. Don’t want to hear me? No problems. I wish you well.
"I am so thrilled that some more reasonable protestors decided to spend the evening with us, one now wants me to run as the local MP!
"It is no coincidence that our venue was a pub. It turns out speech is the new alcohol in an Age of Prohibition.
"I look forward to seeing many more good people on the road across the UK."
Hopkins is known for her controversial views with two venues in Stroud declining to host the show.
A group of protesters gathered outside the Star Inn to demonstrate against the event last night.
