A MAN charged with number of historic sexual offences against young girls is due in court later this week.
Mark Sanders, aged 76, of Princes Street in Thurso, Caithness, in north Scotland, faces multiple charges related to indecent assaults on underage girls, spanning over several years.
The defendant faces a charge of indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 14 in Stonehouse between November 28, 1989 and November 29, 1991.
Furthermore, Sanders has been accused of unlawful sexual intercourse with the same girl when she was under the age of 13 which allegedly took place in Stonehouse between November 28, 1991 and November 29, 1992.
This charge falls under section 5 of the Sexual Offences Act 1956 and is an indictable offence so will be heard at crown court.
The defendant faces another charge, for allegedly committing an act of gross indecency with the same girl in Amberley between November 28, 1994 and November 29, 1995.
Sanders has also been charged with indecently assaulting the same girl in Amberley between November 28, 1994 and November 29, 1996.
Lastly, Sanders faced a final charge, similar to the previous ones, for allegedly indecently assaulted a different girl under the age of 14 between March 22, 1962 and March 23, 1964 in Forest Hill, London.
The case is due to be heard at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on Friday, August 11.
