A MAJOR change has taken place at a Stroud supermarket due to 'customer demand'.
Extra self-scan checkouts have been introduced at Waitrose, London Road, to cope with a rising demand.
There are now 12 checkouts in the store, which have also moved from their previous location next to the cafe.
A Waitrose spokesperson said: "We are focused on our customers, and have introduced more self-scan checkouts to respond to customer demand - as our existing ones were very heavily used.”
“While we anticipate speedier checkout times for those using them, we know that some of our customers like a more personal service at our checkouts and we are retaining conventional tills for customers who want to use them."
There are however still six traditional checkouts remaining for those customers who prefer a more personalised service.
