POLICE have issued a clarification after incorrect information was released yesterday afternoon, Monday, wrongly stating a body had been recovered from the River Frome at Bowbridge Lock in Stroud during a search.
Gloucestershire Constabulary released a statement to the SNJ and Gazette stating that the body of a man aged in his 50s had been found during a search of the river by emergency teams on Sunday morning.
Gloucestershire Constabulary has now confirmed that this information was incorrect and in fact related to a body found during a canal search at Moreton Valence. Details of that incident can be found here.
The search of the river at Bowbridge was conducted after a bag and towel were found by the river but no one could be seen in the area.
Police have confirmed that no one was located during this search and it was eventually called off.
