LOCAL heroes were celebrated for their valuable contributions to our town at the inaugural Stroud News and Journal Community Awards.
More than 100 Stroud residents gathered at the Stonehouse Court Hotel for a night of pictures, speeches and good food.
The awards ceremony was held to highlight and honour the work of those who go above and beyond to make Stroud a better place.
Thirteen awards were given out to some of the most dedicated and hard-working people across the Stroud community.
Categories included teacher of the year, business of the year and best community project.

Diversity in the Community Award – Michael Lee Scott Jones
Teacher of the Year - Ruth Flood from Chalford Hill Primary School
Young Person of the Year – Josh Morrison
Sports Team or Club of the Year – Cainscross RFC minis
Best Customer Service – Made in Stroud
Best Eating Establishment or Bar of the Year – The Queen Vic
Best Independent Trader of the Year – Karibu
Best Volunteer or Fundraiser of the Year – Eric Torrington
New Business of the Year – Klang Tone Records
Business of the Year – Stroud Brewery
The Outstanding Commitment to Stroud - Eric Torrington
