THE BEST of the Stroud community were celebrated tonight at an awards ceremony at the Stonehouse Court Hotel.
The inaugural Stroud News and Journal community awards were held tonight to help shine a light on our region and its many, many success stories.
Thirteen awards were given out to some of the most dedicated and hard-working people across the Stroud community.
Categories included teacher of the year, business of the year and best community project.
The full list of winners is as follows:
- Environmental Project of the Year – Stroud Valleys Project
- Best Community Project - Cotswolds Canals Trust
- Diversity in the Community Award – Michael Lee Scott Jones
- Teacher of the Year - Ruth Flood from Chalford Hill Primary School
- Young Person of the Year – Josh Morrison
- Sports Team or Club of the Year – Cainscross RFC minis
- Best Customer Service – Made in Stroud
- Best Eating Establishment or Bar of the Year – The Queen Vic
- Best Independent Trader of the Year – Karibu
- Best Volunteer or Fundraiser of the Year – Eric Torrington
- New Business of the Year – Klang Tone Records
- Business of the Year – Stroud Brewery
- The Outstanding Commitment to Stroud - Eric Torrington
