Stroud MP Siobhan Baillie uses her latest column (SNJ, 7th June) to tell her constituents what to think, rather than listening to them. She openly declares that she has had few or no complaints about the recent rail strikes, but despite this, chooses to regale us with the type of union-bashing which has been her party’s hallmark for decades.

The emptiness of our MP’s letterbox could have a number of causes: it could indicate that very few in the constituency use public transport, perhaps because it is overpriced and infrequent; it could indicate that people don’t consider writing to Baillie to be a worthwhile use of their time; or it could even be that local people support the rail strikes, suffer the inconvenience without complaint, and wish only the best to their fellow workers on picket lines.
