HEATHERS is playing at the Everyman in Cheltenham this week - and strap in for a belting musical number.
The audience loved this show – it was almost like a cult following at the Cheltenham theatre with the crowd interacting with the players throughout the show.
It really is a spectacle with superb dancing, singing and acting in the telling of this dark story which is still strangely uplifting exploring themes such as friendship and acceptance.
The show takes place at Westerberg High where Veronica Sawyer is just another nobody dreaming of a better day.
But when she joins the beautiful and impossibly cruel Heathers and her dreams of popularity may finally come true, mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody.
Wickedly funny and with dazzling book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, Heathers the musical is based on the 1988 cult hit, that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, and produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills.
With direction from Andy Fickman and electrifying choreography by Gary Lloyd, this is one class production you can’t afford to skip.
Following two smash hit West End seasons at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, a record breaking season at The Other Palace, a 2021 UK tour and winning the WhatsOnStage Award for ‘Best new musical’ in 2019, Heathers the Musical is back bringing the big fun to venues across the UK and Ireland in 2023.
Produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills, this high octane, black comedy, rock musical based on one of the greatest cult teen films of all-time starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, is back with a bang!
The award-winning writing team, Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy’s hit musical adaptation has enjoyed successful runs in Los Angeles and New York, and its European premiere saw it become the highest grossing show at The Other Palace, having sold over 20,000 tickets across the run and selling out prior to its opening gala performance.
This production contains haze, loud noises including gunshots, flashing lights and strobe, strong language and mature themes.
