A Stroud education charity held an open day to commemorate its 75th anniversary.

Hawkwood College has provided courses and training in music, arts and crafts to residents of Stroud and Painswick for decades.

Organisers marked the anniversary with a future thinking day yesterday Monday, May 1 with music, workshops, food, stalls, farm tours and presentations.

The adult education centre was set up in 1947 by Lily Whincop and co-founder of Wynstones Margaret Bennell after being inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy.

For more than seven decades, Hawkwood has provided a place for people to learn and develop.
