WORSHIPPERS marched through Stroud this morning - Good Friday - to mark the start of Easter.
A large group congregated outside The Door charity shop at the top of the high street to start the Walk of Witness procession at 11.15am on Friday, April 7.
The Walk of Witness is an annual Good Friday tradition where Christians of different denominations and of no affiliation imitate the journey that Jesus Christ took carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem.
Three men stood at the front with a microphone and started the outdoor service with the first hymn called Servant King.
The sun shone onto the gathering who cuddled around the speakers and four people held a long white banner that said "Churches Together".
Churches Together is an organisation that helps its member churches work together.
There were many instruments adding to the singing such as a hand drum, a saxophone and a tambourine.
One man carried a large wooden cross to represent Jesus' crucifixion and led the procession down the high street towards it's second stop, the entrance of the Five Valleys.
The group then made their way down to the Sub Rooms and finished at St Laurence Church where they stayed for tea, coffee and hot cross buns.
One of the men leading the service was Paul Summersby said: "It's an opportunity for Christians from different churches in Stroud to come together and demonstrate their faith.
"It's an opportunity to say actually we are still here, and for us Jesus is so so important.
"And today is the saddest day for us as Christians because it is the day that remembers the day he was crucified.
"We are very blessed with this lovely weather today."
