PLANS have been submitted for a new 5G mast in Stroud.
If they are approved these plans would see the installation of a 5G 16m high slim-line monopole and other telecommunications equipment in Westrip Lane, Cashes Green, Stroud.
According to Mobile UK 5G "offers much faster data download and upload speeds and will allow more devices to simultaneously access the mobile internet.
"As the world depends more and more on mobile connectivity and we are consuming more data, existing networks are becoming congested.
"This is particularly the case when there are lots of people in the same place, at the same time, trying to access online services.
"5G has the capacity to handle this demand and has the unique ability to ‘splice’ the network.
"This gives councils, businesses and the emergency services the ability to have their own dedicated, reliable part of the 5G network."
So far nearly a dozen residents have had their say on the proposals.
The application is currently open for consultation and can be viewed at www.stroud.gov.uk/planning via S.23/0451/TEL
