Family of Hollie Gazzard 'overwhelmed' as Netflix show airs

On Saturday, to mark the ninth anniversary of her death, the Hollie Gazzard Trust will meet outside the Knife Angel in Gloucester to hold a vigil. 

The trust was set up by Nick Gazzard following the death of his daughter Hollie, who was stabbed to death while at work at Fringe Benefits & La Bella Beauty Salon, Gloucester.

"The Knife Angel is a great way to raise awareness of how devastating knife crime can be," said Mr Gazzard. 

"There have been too many incidents over the years.

"The charity dates to be at the sculpture coincide with the 9-year anniversary of Hollie’s death, so it’ll be a very poignant occasion."

On Friday, February 17 and Saturday, February 18, the Trust will be outside the sculpture, located next to Gloucester Cathedral. 

"Myself and all at the charity would love to see many people there over the course of the two days," said Mr Gazzard. 

Hollie's case also features in an episode on the Netflix series 'My Lover, My Killer', which recently aired. 

"We have been really overwhelmed with the kind messages from around the world, following the release of the Netflix documentary," read a statement from the Trust. 

"It wasn't easy to do but we want to raise awareness of the issues Hollie faced so that others have a chance to avoid a similar outcome." 

Following her death, Miss Gazzard's family said "the brightest star" in their lives had gone out.

"She was full of life and we are very proud of her," they said. 

"The world has lost a treasure, she was so loved by all her family and friends and the brightest star in their lives has now gone out."

The Hollie Gazzard Trust aims to promote the dangers of knife crime, reduce the level of domestic abuse and stalking, and to help support and fund young hairdressers.
