Developers have been given the green light to build 216 homes near Stonehouse.
Vistry Homes Ltd has been granted permission by Stroud District Council to build on land west of Stonehouse at Grove Lane, Westend.
The reserved matters proposal is part of the outline planning permission which includes consent for up to 1,350 homes, 23 acres of employment land and a mixed use local centre and new primary school.
This new housing estate will include 103 three -bed homes, including 10 affordable, 60 four bed units with two affordable homes and 44 affordable two bed houses.
The development also includes six two bed flats and three one bed apartments.
The developers say they revised their layout to address the concerns raised by planning officers and Eastington Parish Council.
This included the relocation of the proposed apartment building and changes to its external detailing.
The changes include more homes along the southern frontage of the site onto Great Oldbury Way.
Jonathan Coombs, speaking in favour of the scheme as the agent for the applicant, told the planning committee on November 15 of how they had addressed the concerns of the community and council officers.
“Following receipt of the original parish and community objections, we engaged with the parish council who helpfully facilitated a meeting with the chair Cllr Bullock and Cllr Coombs, and 15 to 20 local residents at the site on September 21 to discuss their concerns.
“At this meeting, we tabled a revised layout to address the key concerns of the location for flats opposite existing properties by locating this further within the site.”
He said the revised layout was welcomed by those present and no further objections had been received.
Councillor Lorraine Patrick (C, Dursley) said how refreshing it was to see a developer engage with the community.
Officers recommended approving the proposals and the committee voted unanimously to grant permission.
