HUNDREDS of runners took part in today’s rainy 40th annual Stroud Half Marathon.
Over 700 runners took part in the 13.1 mile route which started and finished on the Cainscross Road, adjacent to Marling School field.
Lee Stopford, a runner from Stroud and District Athletic club romped home in one hour 11 minutes and 23 seconds to win the half marathon.

A familiar face on the course featured Stroud running veteran Jeff Waters who has MS but has taken part in every Stroud Half since the race was launched in 1982.
Some of the other runners who ran the half marathon were Dominique Farmer and her friends from Stroud-based charity Wiggly T-shirts.
Founded by Dominique and her partner Dan, the charity funds colourful t-shirts with snap poppers which allow easy access for children who are going through cancer treatment.
They started the charity after their daughter Indi was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when she was just two years old.
So far the team have raised over £1,200 just from their Stroud half-marathon fundraising.
