A SCHOOL is offering support after the death of a former pupil in last week's fatal car crash near Dursley.

Matthew Millard, 18, was one of the teenagers who died in the single-vehicle collision on Tait's Hill on Thursday night.

Matt attended Katharine Lady Berkeley's School in Wotton, leaving in June after completing his A-levels.

Another teenager aged 17 also died in the collision.

KLB acting head Hannah Khan said staff and students were  'deeply affected by the terrible news'.

In a letter sent to parents on Friday last week, Ms Khan said: “It is with much sadness that I am writing to inform you of the death of Matthew Millard, who left Year 13 in June this year.

“Last night, he tragically lost his life in a car accident, which also claimed the life of another young man.

“Many staff and students are deeply affected by this terrible news and we have been offering support to anyone who is struggling.

Stroud News and Journal:

“Jane Daniel, one of our English teachers who is trained to offer bereavement counselling, has been supporting students and staff today.

“In addition, other pastoral staff are available to help in any way they can.

“Many of this year's group have just started at university.

“With clusters of students at many universities across the UK, we hope that they will come together to support each other at this very difficult time.

“As a year group, they came together with the staff to mourn the loss of Joe Parker just a few months ago.

“We are always available should any of them wish to contact us at school.

“We will continue to offer support to students and staff over the coming days and weeks.

“For now, our thoughts are very much with Matt’s family.”

A woman in her 20s, who was also in the car, suffered injuries in the collision.
