MEMBERS from Extinction Rebellion are to hold a meet-up in Stroud.
Extinction Rebellion (XR) groups from around Gloucestershire will congregate in Stroud with representatives from other local groups on Monday, September 26.
XR was formed in Stroud in 2018.
The event will include many elements, the first to reach out to the public in a public space at Wallbridge Lock, opposite EcoTricity Building, Stroud, GL5 3JB starting from 10am.
There will be the “Change is Now” bus, speakers, performers, music, food, art and conversation with people about the cost of living, climate and ecological crises people are facing.
Val Saunders, spokesperson for the XR Stroud Group and the XR Glos collective, said: “We can now see clearly how the cost-of-living crisis is a direct result of the climate and ecological crises.
"This summer the UK suffered temperatures up to 40 degrees, followed by flooding and sewage on our beaches, with a predicted crop failure of up to 50 per cent.
"Oil and gas companies continue to rake in billions of pounds in profits, and the new government seems set on helping them do it.
"As ordinary people, we must do something before it’s too late.”
