A FIRE is sending up a large plume of smoke which is visible for miles across the Stroud district.
These pictures were taken from Rodborough by resident Claire Penketh a few minutes ago looking across from Butterrow Lane towards the London Road area.
It appears that the fire is in the Golden Valley/Chalford direction although there are reports that it is actually further away in the Rodmarton area.
The large cloud of smoke can be seen from Nailsworth, Randwick and even Cam Peak with several residents posting pictures on Facebook.
Reports suggest hay bales caught fire.
Update from fire service
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service have just tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a large fire in Cherington.
We have six pumps, a water carrier and two officers in attendance.
"The fire is under control but you will see smoke in the area for some time.
"Please avoid Tarlington Road if possible."
