A man arrested in connection with an incident in Tetbury where a woman was chased through woodlands has been released on bail.

Police arrested a man on Saturday on suspicion of stalking involving fear of violence or serious alarm or distress.

He has since been released on conditional bail and is due to return to a police station next month.

Detective Inspector Paula Hannaford said: "Although an arrest has been made, our investigation is ongoing and our officers are in the process of reviewing all of the information which has come in following public appeals.

"While our investigation continues and other lines of inquiry are progressed, we are still keen to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to us, and who may have information which could help."

The victim was walking her dogs in Hermit's Cave Woods at 1.15pm on Thursday, July 28 when a man began following her. She fled the area, but the man continued to run after her.

It was only when the victim flagged down a cyclist that the man left. Police are continuing to appeal to this male cyclist to come forward.

The man who chased the woman was described as being a white man, aged between 40 and 50 with broad shoulders and tanned arms.

He had fair hair that was thinning and was physically fit with an athletic build.

At the time the man was wearing a burgundy/purple t-shirt with a round neck, dark trousers with pockets and dark shoes.

Police are also investigating an incident which happened on July 4 where a woman who was walking dogs in the area of Chavenage Lane woods at around 1pm felt as though she was being watched and followed by a man.

He appeared to be trying to hide from her, and the man ran away after he was spotted.
