A busy road in Stroud town centre is closed while electrical works take place.
Brickrow road near Lansdown has been shut since earlier this week (Monday, August 1) and will remain closed until Friday, August 12.
The works are taking place near Church Street which has a popular town centre car park.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: “The reason for this work is we need to reinforce our network to supply electricity for a new housing development nearby.
“The work to upgrade cables and a transformer began earlier this week and is due to last two weeks in total.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that’s being caused while this important upgrading work is taking place.”
Construction workers at the Bales Home housing development on Church Street have said they have received verbal abuse from drivers unable to use the road.
For pedestrians there is still a footpath with access, but for motorists the road will remain shut until 8pm next Friday.
