Despite soaring temperatures, only have a few schools have had to close in Gloucestershire.
All schools in the Stroud district are currently open.

Denmark Road High School in Gloucester is closed today (July 18).
Partial closure
Ruardean C of E Primary School in the Forest of Dean is also partially closed and will only be open from 9am to 12.15pm today and tomorrow (July 18 and 19).
Queen Margaret Primary School in Tewkesbury is closed today (July 18) from 12pm.

An amber weather warning for extreme heat has been issued by the Met Office across Stroud for today and Tuesday, with temperatures expected to soar to 38 degrees.
A national emergency has also been declared as other parts of the UK have issued the first ever red weather warning due to the potential "danger to life".
