A 64-year-old man has appeared in court charged with possessing a Stanley Knife in Stroud town centre.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on Monday, June 18.
The man is charged with possessing a lockable Stanley knife in Russell Street, Stroud without good reason or lawful authority contrary to the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
He appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 4.
The case was adjourned and no pleas were entered.
According to Ask the Police, it is an offence to carry any sharp or bladed instrument in a public place, with the exception of a folding pocket knife where the cutting edge of the blade is 7.62 cm (3 inches) or less.
