TEN skeletons have been discovered at the site of Ecotricity's new eco park and football stadium.
Archaeologists made the finds - which also include Roman coins, pottery and jewellery - during a dig on land next to Junction 13 of the M5.
The land is set to become home to a green business park and new training facility for all of Forest Green Rovers' teams.
Cotswold Archaeology's Sharon Clough said: "We've excavated ten burials and we think these date to the Roman period or post-Roman period.
"The coins in particular are very useful because they have different emperors on, which will give you quite a specific date."
Ecotricity owner Dale Vince said the team had been keeping the finds quiet 'to avoid treasure hunting'.
In a post on social media he also revealed that there is a Roman villa under part of the site.
He said: "We’ve been digging at the site of Eco Park, ahead of building our first training pitches there for the FGR football family.
"We’re looking for Roman artefacts - there’s a villa under part of the site and it’s a planning condition that we pretty much dig the whole site up and see what’s there.
"And I thought we’d find some coins and stuff, which we have - but we also found quite a few Roman bodies.
"One of the coins we found in particular is quite amazing in it’s condition and detail - with the head of Emperor Constantine on one side, and interestingly the flip side is ‘upside down’….not seen that before on a coin. This one is about 1800 years old.
"We also found a Spanish coin, from the Middle Ages, the ‘pieces of eight’ era I’m told - this one is smaller denomination - maybe pieces of four.
"Hopefully we’ll soon be digging to make new pitches."
