Is Siobhan Baillie MP being deliberately disingenuous in her column (SNJ January 26th) when she suggests that rises in prices of raw materials such as wood, increases in construction costs, and shortages of items like white goods are all due to Covid?
She doesn’t even mention the word ‘Brexit’. Anyone in business, especially construction, knows that Covid is only one of the causes of the supply chain shortages; an equally important root cause is the red tape created by the madness that is Brexit, which has hampered imports of essential goods.
If Ms Baillie is genuinely concerned about the rising cost of living, she should be honest and acknowledge the disastrous impact of us cutting ties with our biggest trading partner – and join the campaign to rejoin the EU.
Your sincerely
