Christmas message from Marah trustee, the Rev Keith Rudman
Christmas Cheer? Marah makes a difference!
“For unto us a child is given…!”Isaiah 9:6-7.
A well known announcement of a new baby’s arrival.
It name’s him “Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God...Prince of Peace”...and that he would establish a Kingdom of….”Judgment and Justice” that would endure “forever”… and..."the LORD of hosts will perform this.”
The prophet Isaiah spoke these words some 700 years before.
WOW talk about pressure!
After all, they have the words of God to rely on. Look out world, here comes my boy.
Who is this person? What has become of him? Why no social media?
When is he doing Ted's Talk?
Richard Dawkins, no friend of Jesus, agrees that he existed and Matthew Parris, political commentator says: “Now a confirmed atheist, I’ve become convinced of the enormous contribution that Christian evangelism makes in Africa, sharply distinct from secular NGOs, government projects and international aid efforts.
"These alone will not do. Education and training alone will not do. In Africa Christianity changes people’s hearts.
"It brings a spiritual transformation. The re-birth is real. The change is good.” (The Times 27/12/08).
Add film maker and author Lord Melvin Bragg, author HG Wells, art historian Helen-Rufus Ward, Stef Reid Paralympic Silver medal winner, Bono and millions of people from every nation and all walks of life it is hard to argue against his existence.
The change is heart felt for many individuals.
Marah is motivated by the life of Christ.
Many of our volunteers and those of other faith’s or none work tirelessly to encourage those who struggle everyday. A hot meal, a friendly smile and cheery “Hello” can make a world of difference!
So, as we approach the celebration of the birth of the Prince of Peace, spare a thought for those less fortunate than yourself!
God Bless you.
