Simeon Chambers, 26, of Stroud was jailed for 18 months after he strangled and beat his partner in a Bournemouth hotel.

Chambers pleaded guilty to to two counts of assault by beating and one count of causing actual bodily harm on April 15 at the Queens Hotel in Meyrick Road.

A wedding guest who sexually assaulted a sleeping woman at a hotel near Tetbury was jailed following an appeal.

Joe Holtham, 33, of Stratford Road, Henley in Arden, Warwickshire, had originally been given a suspended sentence by a judge at Gloucester Crown Court.

However, three Court of Appeal judges concluded the suspended sentence was unduly lenient after Solicitor General Lucy Frazer mounted a challenge.

Lord Justice Males, Mrs Justice O’Farrell and Sir Roderick Evans, who considered the case at a Court of Appeal hearing in London, imposed a prison sentence of three years and six months.

Graham Peak, 50, of Northfield Road, Tetbury was jailed for six years and eight months after encouraging children to perform sexual acts on themselves on camera while he watched.

Peak admitted 14 offences after an investigation found he had hundreds of indecent images of children saved on his devices, including ones in the most serious category.

A drink-driver was jailed after severely injuring two people when he crashed on a bridge in Lechlade.

Loic Freeman, 26, of Bullinghope, Hereford, collided with an oncoming car and then hit a pedestrian.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving on the A361 at Lechlade and was jailed for two-and-a-half years. He was also banned from driving for three-and-a-half years.

A Gloucestershire farmer WAS sent to prison for causing unnecessary suffering to a sheep which was found dead on his farm during an unannounced inspection.

Keith Barber, aged 72, of Joys Green, Lydbrook pleaded guilty to five charges brought by Gloucestershire County Council’s trading standards service.

Magistrates activated a suspended sentence he had previously been given and sentenced him to a total of 56 days in custody for the five charges and for similar offences brought by Forest of Dean District Council and Herefordshire Council.

A Stroud man was jailed after pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and battery of an emergency worker.

Martin Burns, a serving prisoner, but formerly of London Road, Gloucester and Nursery Close, Stroud was jailed for six months, which will be added to his current prison sentence.

Bernard McDonagh, 28, of Draycott, Cam, but formerly of Mount View Caravan Park, Naas Lane, near Brookthorpe, was jailed for six years and seven months.

McDonagh pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of James Quilligan, who he left to die after subjecting him to a severe beating, but admitted causing him grievous bodily harm with intent.

The prosecution then offered no evidence on the attempted murder charge and a not guilty verdict was recorded.
