I live opposite the Black Boy Clock in Castle St. I had been a secondary school teacher and when I retired I spent some time volunteering to do 'interesting topics' with small groups of yr 6 pupils in what is now Stroud Valleys Community Primary School.
Because the view from my sitting room is the Black Boy Clock I was able to take a group there and investigate the history of the clock. It made for very interesting discussions and was, I believe, a useful addition to the children's knowledge of their home town. A useful, informative, plaque, which had been removed some time ago, has now been replaced next to the Castle Street road sign.
