A crime scene officer has provided a rare insight into how excavation work took place at a Gloucester cafe took place as police searched for the body of missing teenager Mary Bastholm.
Police concluded their search this morning, Wednesday, and confirmed there were no human remains in the Clean Plate Cafe on Southgate Street.
The £55,000 investigation was launched after a film crew detected new evidence that human remains might exist beneath the cellar, where serial Fred West is thought to have laid flooring when Mary went missing in 1968.
Mary Bastholm - long suspected to have been a victim of West - worked as a waitress in the Pop In cafe, which is now the Clean Plate, when she disappeared.
Listen to Scenes of Crime Co-ordinator Martin Cuffe describe the investigation below.
