Our readers nominated the top 15 takeaways in Cam and Dursley, Thornbury, Yate and Sodbury, and we’ve been profiling each of them so you can choose the Gazette Series Best Takeaway 2021 winner.
The last Thornbury venue we’re showcasing is Roobroo, an Indian restaurant which opened just six months before the pandemic first hit the UK.
Owner Ramdev Jat only did a few takeaways on request when he started the business on Castle Street in 2019, but quickly adapted to lockdown conditions in March 2020 by expanding his takeaway options.
“The pandemic has been difficult for me and our staff but we’ve started the takeaway service,” said Ramdev, who has been cooking since the age of six.
Ramdev, who originates from the Indian province of Rajasthan, set up the chef run and managed restaurant using influences from the food and spices available in the area he grew up.
He said he was really happy with the restaurant’s nomination, given how hard his staff have been working.
If you think Roobroo should be crowned the best takeaway, you can vote for them using the voting coupon in this week’s paper (Thursday, March 25) or next week’s (April 1).
Or take a look at the other contestants we’ve profiled in Thornbury:
Simply post the coupon to: Gazette Series Best Takeaway, Redhill House, 227 London Road, Worcester, WR5 2JG.
Or you can you leave your coupon with the restaurant you voted for.
Voting ends on Sunday April 11, 2021.
