A 40-year-old van driver from Berkeley has been fined nearly £700 for driving while under the influence of cannabis.
Colin Smith, of Forest View Road, Berkeley, drove a Ford Transit along the B4066 on May 26 last year with tetrahydrocannabinol, a constituent in cannabis, in his blood above the legal limit.
He was fined £680 after pleading guilty on March 12, 2021 at Cheltenham Magistrates Court and was banned from the roads for 12 months.
An initial fine of £1,020 was reduced due to previous good character and credit for pleading guilty at the first opportunity.
On top of his fine, Smith must pay a £68 surcharge to fund victims services and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
