Twin art students from Wycliffe have published a children’s book set in Gloucester, inspired by a late family friend.
Poppy and Sasha Sathasivam, 16, created Little Gold Ted with their mother, Venassa, during lockdown, and included locations like Pitt Street, Gloucester Cathedral and Waterloo Street.
The book tells a tale of friendship after a teddy bear falls from his owner's pram and finds himself lost in a sewer.
"The book evolved after our mum lost her best friend. We called her Auntie Karen because she was so supportive of everything we did and was like our cheerleader. Karen was a fantastic writer herself and really was our main source of inspiration," said Poppy.
The pair study A-level art, design and technology and business studies at Wycliffe, and hope to take their passion for art to an American university in the future.
They plan to donate some copies of the book to the neonatal care unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
"We have a connection to the Scoo-B-Doo charity at the baby care unit. Sasha and I were born prematurely, so relied on Scoo-B-Doo," said Poppy.
"We shall be donating books there to bring comfort and hope to parents with premature babies."
Little Golden Ted is available on Amazon for £6.99 as a book or on Kindle.
